Jihee Cho, Ph.D.

Dr. Jihee Cho, co-founder of Mind in Motion Psychological Services, is a licensed psychologist with a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Fordham University and master’s level training from Teachers College, Columbia University, in the Mental Health Counseling program. Her professional journey includes an APPIC-accredited internship at Stony Brook University Counseling and Psychological Services and Postdoctoral training at CUNY Brooklyn College. Dr. Cho has offered clinical training at both Brooklyn College and Teachers College, Columbia University, specifically in the mental health counseling program, and supervised clinical trainees at Brooklyn College Counseling Center.

Orientation/clinical interests/specialties
Dr. Cho brings extensive experience to her work, specializing in depression, anxiety, trauma, life transitions, relationship difficulties, and identity issues (gender, racial, etc.) across a diverse client population. Employing a relational psychodynamic model, she guides individuals in learning to tolerate and process uncomfortable feelings through the therapeutic relationship. Dr. Cho adopts multicultural and holistic perspectives, helping clients discover their strengths and resilience.

Her clinical expertise extends to immigration issues, international students, cultural humility, and cultural identity. Dr. Cho provides and supervises immigration evaluations for those filing petitions and waivers under special circumstances. As a former president of the Korean American Behavioral Health Association, she remains actively involved as a board member, continuing to address the mental health needs of the Korean American community.
